Michael Anthony Rea, 52, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 27, 2016. Michael was born in Bakersfield, CA on June 4, 1964 to parents Alfonso and Vickie Rea. He will be remembered for his mischievous sense of humor, his generous heart, always offering food to friends in the neighborhood. He loved making and riding custom bicycles. One of his favorite hang-outs was the family restaurant, La Colonia. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Vickie and Temo Mondragon; father Alfonso Rea, Jr., grandmother Trini Rea; daughter and son-in-law Nicole and Joey Rodriguez; sons, Michael Rea Jr. and Joseph Rea, 10 grandchildren; Rebecca, Jordan, Abigail, Reanna, Michael III, Nevaeh, Michelle, Isaac, Arianna and Christian; siblings Maryann (Mark) Bethel, Lisa (Al) Silva, Gena (Mark) Garcia, Erica Tovar and Jonathan Lopez; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Anita Cornejo and grandfather Alfonso Rea, Sr. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 6th at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles St.) from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and wake service will begin at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at New Beginnings Christian Church (1800 Height St.) A Reception will follow immediately at the church.
