Nancy Lee Poteete

May 19, 1935 — February 4, 2018

Nancy Lee Poteete

Nancy Lee Poteete cast off her mortal coil at 1:24 a.m. on February 4th. She was 82. Mom was surrounded by family and friends. As she lay in her bed, she spoke with each of her grandchildren comforting them and telling them that everything was going to be alright.

Mom loved riding her horse Haley while competing in gymkhana horsemanship competitions. Her vocation was bookkeeping and I pity the man who came between her and the petty cash drawer without authorization in triplicate. She was fiercely loyal to her employees, family and friends.

Her card playing skills made Doc Holliday look like a patsy.

Mom loved reading her Bible and praying for her family. Her last words to her children were: "Don't worry about me. I will see you soon."

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Gladys Shoff, as well as her brother, Richard Shoff, and beloved sister, Nellie Lamp.

She is survived by her two sisters, Evelyn McIndoo and Dorothy Kahut, as well as her daughter, Renee McLoy (Ron), son Jim Poteete (Karen) as well as her grandchildren, Heather Martinez, Randy Poteete, Josh Cain, Jamie Rowe, Chris McLoy,Audrey Poteete, nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are scheduled for 3 p.m., Friday, Feb 9 at Canyon Hills Church.
