Norman Dean Williams 1929-2025
Dean was born on June 1, 1929 in Depew, Oklahoma. He went to be with the Lord on February 1, 2025. Dean moved to Bakersfield when he was 8 years old. He attended Mountain View Elementary School where he met Bernice in their 3rd grade class. Dean and Bernice both attended KCUHS and were married on August 31, 1948. They had four children: Donnie, Mike, Marla, and Valerie. Dean had many hobbies, some of which included woodworking, building airplanes from soda cans, model rockets, and gardening. He was an avid odor man and took Donnie and Mike on many backpacking and fishing trips. Dean also loved playing softball and was a huge Dodgers fan. He was the pitcher for his church’s team for many years. Dad loved being involved with his church and over the years attended Lamont Assembly, Bethel Temple, and Bakersfield First Assembly of God. Dean and Bernice also traveled for many years with the No Name Sam’s RV Club. They also took many trips across the country in their motor home. Dean is preceded in death by his father and mother, LouEllen and Mattie Williams, his beloved wife, Bernice, his grandson, Matthew Smith, and twelve siblings. He is survived by his son, Donnie and wife Lynn Williams; son, Mike and wife Sharon Williams; daughter, Marla and husband Rick Smith; and daughter, Valerie and husband Tim Boyles; and 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. The family would like to give a special thanks to Jasmine Garden Residential Care for their excellent care of our dad.
