Peggy Jean Ensor Lippert September 13, 1925 - December 16, 2019

Peggy Jean Ensor was born September 13, 1925 to Sydney Charles Ensor and Annie (Erwin) Ensor, on the Berry Holding Company Hillside Oil Lease, Maricopa, CA. She took piano lessons and later became the music department piano accompanist at Maricopa High School, graduating in 1943. She played piano at a local church for weddings and community events. Peggy married Herman Lippert, Jr. of Fellows, CA June 2, 1948.

Peggy and Herman ministered at the Wilkinson Church of Christ, Wilkinson, IN from 1948 to 1958. Peggy played the piano and organ at church and accompanied band students at competitions. As the "preacher's wife" she also taught Sunday School, typed and printed church bulletins and publications.

The Lippert's first two children were born in Indiana; Beverly (1950) and Michael (1952). The family moved to Rexland Christian Church, Bakersfield, CA, in 1958 where Barbara was born. In 1965 they moved to Camarillo, CA, where Herman served as Pastor of Camarillo Christian Church until 1971. Peggy accompanied the Camarillo High School Choirs. The Lipperts returned to Bakersfield where Peggy accompanied choirs at Highland High School, North High School and Bakersfield College retiring in 1993. She also played for many community events. Herman and Peggy served with University Ave. Christian Church and then with Ming Ave Christian Church, now Christ's Church of the Valley, retiring in 2013. The couple celebrated 65 years of ministry and marriage.

Peggy was quite the seamstress. Hospitality and entertaining were also specialties. Peggy loved to bake. Her pies were delectable. Her homegrown boysenberry or fuji apple pies were amazing. There was also homemade ice cream. She could always stretch a meal when Herman would bring home unexpected guests. All were welcome.

The Lipperts moved to Hallmark Assisted Living, Bakersfield, CA in May 2016. Peggy played the piano for activities at Hallmark including Sunday afternoon church services until December 1, 2019.

Peggy is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 1/2 years, Herman, in February 2017. Peggy is survived by her three children, Beverly Lippert Maloney (Charlie), Michael Lippert (Dawn) and Barbara Lippert Waggoner (Allen); grandchildren, Nathan Maloney (Mandy), Michelle Maloney (Skip Amaker), Danielle Lippert Price (Andrew), Lauren Waggoner Smith (Bryan) and Ryan Waggoner; great-grandchildren, Michael and William Amaker, Millie, Henry and Kate Maloney and several nieces and a nephew.

Many thanks to the staff at Hallmark Assisted Living and nurses Raj and Amber from Hoffmann Hospice.
