Peter Ernest Altamirano

Peter Ernest Altamirano, 75, resided in Bakersfield, California. He is survived by his wife Darnetta Altamirano. Peter passed away after a valiant struggle with COVID-19 on Saturday, April 10, 2021. Peter was born in Rincon, New Mexico on May 4th, 1945.
Peter served in the United States Navy and retired from PG & E after 30 years of service at the age of 56 years old. Peter enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and reading his bible daily.
Peter helped start many Hispanic ministries in the Central Valley and billed that work as some of the most enjoyable of his life.
Peter never met a stranger and could be described as strong, hardworking, determined, and caring. Peter was a great organizer who loved to work with his hands.
He was preceded in death by his mother Helen Altamirano, father Rafael Altamirano, his wife of 51 years Rachel Altamirano, and his oldest son Eric Altamirano who was survived by his wife Sue and their three children Brynne Caitlyn Brazil, Seth Hunter Altamirano, and Brooke Ellyn McRae.
Peter's youngest son Ralph Lee Altamirano was married to Jodi Kay Wright and are the parents of Jesse Lee Altamirano. Ralph is married to Angel Altamirano.
Alesha Hixon, Brittany Smith, Matt Smith, and Jordan Smith are his four surviving stepchildren.
