Rafael Alonso

Rafael Alonso, 24 years old, of Bakersfield CA, passed away suddenly on November 10, 2023.  Rafael was born on October 25, 1999, to Brandy & Ralph Alonso in Bakersfield CA. 

After Rafael graduated from Liberty High School in 2017, he went on to attend an academic year at Bakersfield Community College until he decided he wanted to pursue a career in the oil industry.  Rafael joined the oil industry workforce in 2019 with his first industry job at Golden State Drilling as a drilling rig floor hand.  He later moved on to Weatherford International as a Repair and Maintenance Technician.  

Rafael enjoyed spending time with friends and family and was always the life of family gatherings.  He had many interests which included music, video games, water sports, and dominos.  Playing video games with his brother was one of his favorite pastimes. He also loved to water ski, wake board, and to water tube. He recently became a domino expert and was always looking for the next opportunity to play. Rafael was a music connoisseur and loved spending his free time playing his bass guitar. He had an appreciation for all genres of music which he expressed through many nights of karaoke at family gatherings.   

He is survived by parents Brandy & Tim Johnson, father Ralph Alonso, brother Andrew Alonso, sister Carly Van Curen, brother-in-law Jase Van Curen, sister Bailey Johnson, and grandparents Debra Cason & Stella Alonso.
