On Tuesday, July 16, 2019 Ramon Hernandez Martinez, loving Father of four passed away at the age of 65. Ramon was born February 10, 1954 in Bakersfield, CA to Manuel & Ramona Martinez. He raised two daughters and two sons.
Raised in Lamont, CA, Ramon was proud of the small agricultural town he grew up in. Ramon graduated from Arvin High class of 1972 and also attended Bakersfield College. He loved playing football in his younger days and enjoyed telling stories about his experiences. Ramon loved the Los Angeles Dodgers and had the privilege of attending a game with his family eleven days before his passing. He was always smiling, cracking jokes, and reminiscing about the good old days. He was proud of his family, especially his grandchildren, compadres, and friends. Always willing to lend a helping hand, words of encouragement or prayer. Although Ramon retired in 2017, his recent accomplishments was starting a small catering venture called "Pop's Chile Verde" with his family. Making his famous Chile Verde and seeing people enjoy his food brought a lot of joy to him. Ramon loved listening to good music and singing under the shade tree at home. He looked forward to cook-outs with friends & family and having good conversation. He enjoyed watching movies and reading his bible while relaxing in his recliner.
Ramon was preceded in death by his mother, Ramona Hernandez Martinez, his father Manuel Segura Martinez, his brothers Alvino Martinez, Manuel Martinez J.r, his sister Beatrice Martinez Hines and brother in law Edward Hines. He is survived by his daughter Marcella Martinez Esparza, son in law Johnny Esparza, grandson Caleb Giovanni Gallegos, his sons Raymond Martinez, Anthony Ray Martinez, and daughter Alexandria Ramona Martinez, granddaughter Arianna Luisa Ayala, niece Monica Martinez Castro, sister Delfina Carrillo and brother in law Guadalupe Carrillo, sister Magdelena Martinez, sister Dolores Martinez Mora and brother in law Gerardo Mora, sister Carmen Velasco and brother in law Jose Velasco, sister Regina Lindsay and brother in law Kenneth Lindsay, sister Bernadine Marmolejo and brother in law Leonard Marmolejo, brother Steven Martinez and sister in law Laura Martinez, brother Mario Martinez; and countless nephews, nieces, and cousins.
