Ramona Murillo Villa, 92, of Bakersfield, California, passed away January 28, 2022. She was born to Avelino Murillo Gallegos and Ignacia Flores de Murillo, June 20, 1929, in Rondout, Illinois. She was predeceased by her loving husband Jose Villa Alvarado and three sons: Fidel, Gulmaro, and Jose Luis. Ramona is survived by nine children: Maria Guadalupe, Maria Elena, Maria de Lourdes, Roberto, Martha, Gerardo, Patricia, Georgina, and Edith. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionally call her Mamá Ramona. “La Vida es hermosa,” she used to say despite having to go through several surgeries after being hit by a truck and spending months in recovery. Before going to bed and after getting up, she entrusted herself to her Virgencita, Our Lady of Guadalupe. Her strong will, faith, and positive outlook kept her going for another eight years. She would say that she was happy to be alive and that she wanted to get to see all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rosary will be Monday, February 14, at 5 PM at Basham Funeral Care, 3312 Niles St., Bakersfield. Viewing will begin at 4 PM. Funeral mass will be on Tuesday, February 15, at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 12300 Reina Road, Bakersfield, proceeding on to the Delano Cemetery for the burial ceremony.
