It is with sadness we announce the passing of Ronald Alvidres of Bakersfield, CA. September 4, 1947- July 20, 2018. A graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery Southwest 2739 Panama Ln. Bakersfield, CA 93313 on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 10:00 am.
Born to Aurora and Henry Alvidres of Buttonwillow, CA Ronald was preceded in death by his only son, Paul Brian.
He is survived by his wife Luwanna Alvidres, daughters Kimberly Alvidres, Brandi Lee, Ashley Thompson (Daniel), and Danielle Henson and Nephew Timothy Hill, whom Ron raised as his own. He was known as "Poppa" to his grandchildren: Lucy (Thompson), Hudson (Wright), Brena, Dylan, and Randi (McClain). As well as the Alvidres family in Bakersfield and the Garrubba family of Lancaster, CA and his close friends Jack and Melinda McDonald.
Ron was a hard, dedicated, worker. After leaving the Kern County Sheriffs Department he worked for Brinks, and for the past twenty-five years he has been with Trans-West Security where he has made many friends over the years.
He loved Nascar, going to races, and was a true Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan.
His wit and sense of humor would bring you to tears from laughing.
Not one for frills or fuss and so much more than could ever be put into words, if you knew him you have a story or two to tell.
And each one there
Has one thing shared:
They have sweated beneath the same sun,
Looked up in wonder at the same moon,
And wept when it was all done
