Rose Marie Tucker

Rose Marie Tucker, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was called home on August 11, 2024 at the age of 89. Rose blessed this world with her presence on October 10, 1934. She was born to the proud parents of Aron and Clara Fagan. Rose began her life as Rose Marie Fagan in her hometown, Jonesville, Louisiana. She shared her home with her parents and four siblings Bernice, Aron, Jr., Audrey Mae, and Inez.  Rose attended Catahoula Parris State High School in Jonesville, Louisiana. She furthered her education, studying Business Administration, at Grambling University in Grambling, Louisiana. Rose relocated to Oakland, California, where she met her husband, William Tucker. There is where they had their first, of 4 children, Marilyn. Rose, William and Marilyn moved to Bakersfield, California where Rose and William’s other three children, Ellen, Gloria, and Bobby, were born. While Rose chose to raise her children and manage her home full-time as a stay-at-home-mother, she held temporary positions in the community as a volunteer teacher's aide at her children’s elementary school, Colonel Thomas Baker Elementary School, a salad chef at a local restaurant, a grocery clerk at the neighborhood store, a dietitian at Mercy Hospital and eventually retired as a hotel house manager at the Rio Mirada Hotel. Rose blessed her family with her spiritual beliefs, loving ways, and kind heart. She instilled in her children, her hard work ethics and love for higher education. She brought joy to everyone she met through her kind words and amazing meals. Rose took pride in her holiday traditions and decorations. She filled her home with holiday feasts, which included her amazing tamales and sweet potato pies. Rose was preceded by death by her husband, William Tucker, her son, Robert Wayne Tucker, her son-in-law, Johnnie Gordon, her parents, Aron and Clara Brackens-Fagan, and her siblings, Bernice Foster, Aron Fagan, Jr., Audrey Mae Brown, and Inez Proctor. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Marshall Watkins, Ellen Marie Tucker-Gordon, and Dr. Gloria and Marshall Elijah; her grandchildren, Gary Jackson, Jr., Damyris Bagsby, Jeremy Jackson, Robert Wayne Tucker, Jr., Breanna Avery, Natasha January, Nicole January, Jasmine Tucker, Jacell Demery, and Justin Demery, her 18 great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews and nieces, cousins, and friends.
