Rosemary Schoenborn, age 96, of Bakersfield, CA, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. She was born to the late John Poole Seltzer and Mary Genevieve Gleason on July 28, 1920. Rosemary grew up in Saugus, CA, and attended San Fernando High School. She married her first husband, William S. Kalbaugh, in 1938 and moved her family to Bakersfield in 1946. After her divorce to William Kalbaugh, she took a job at Bakersfield College, where she worked for 14 years in the coffee shop. In 1973, Rosemary married her loving husband, Irvin Schoenborn. Together, they enjoyed Friday night dancing, picnics with family, and church on Sunday. Both were devoted members of St. Joseph's Church, where Rosemary served as a member of the St. Joseph Altar Society. In addition to being an incredible baker, she enjoyed spending time with her friends, making porcelain dolls, tending to her roses, celebrating holidays with her family, and camping with her grandchildren in Pismo.



Her beloved husband Irvin Schoenborn and son Jack Kalbaugh preceded Rosemary in death. She is survived by her loving children and their spouses; Genevieve Demings of Monterey Ca; Bill an Susie Kalbaugh of Bakersfield, CA; Frank and Rosa Kalbaugh of Tucson, AZ; Jeri Mickelberry of Bakersfield, Ca; Jolene and Mike Robeson of Bakersfield, CA; Christina Kalbaugh of Concord, NC, and her grandchildren; Cricket Sorensen of Fresno, CA; Debbie Charlton of San Diego, CA; Missy Bonner of Bakersfield, CA; Christopher Kalbaugh of Tehachapi, CA; Sheri Garzelli of Seattle, WA; Marci Keller of Monterey, CA; Stacey Fitch of Concord, NC; Angie Guijarro of Bakersfield, CA; Julie Mickelberry of Santa Barbara, CA; Sara Harrison of Bakersfield, CA; Cassy Diebel of Bakersfield, CA; and her may great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.



The family would like to thank Elsie del Valle and her staff for taking special care of Rosemary this past year.
