Rose was born at home in Kern County (Panama) and was raised in Bakersfield. She attended local schools, graduated from Kern County Union High School (Bakersfield High), and completed correspondence college courses from Scranton, Penn. After her husband's death, Rose proudly worked for the County of Kern as a Homemaker III until her retirement.
Rose had many dear friends and enjoyed get-togethers over many years. She loved to dance, spend summers on the coast, and visit family and friends across the country. She especially enjoyed her visit to Niagara Falls with her son Quentin, and her sister Ginger and Ginger's husband Fred. Rose was a devoted volunteer at the Kern County Fair for more than 40 years, judging Hobbies and Crafts; she loved her "Fair Family".
Rose was preceded in death by her mother Mary Phillips and her father James Carlin, husband B. D. "Mac" McBride in 1972, and her beloved son and best friend Quentin McBride in 2008. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Alta Wagner, Bertha Bertrand, Irma Ross, Ginger Sharp, and brother George Carlin. She is survived by wonderful nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Rose would like to thank Dr. Susan Helper, Dr. William Nyitray, Dr. Mark Miller, Dr. Howard Nizar, and their staffs for their care over many years. Rose was particularly appreciative of her friends who welcomed and served her meals at Lorene's Coffee Shop and Mexicali Restaurant. In lieu of flowers, please support the cancer research and charity organization of your choice, in memory of Quentin McBride.
