Sarah Anne Meyers

August 12, 1976 — August 22, 2019

Sarah Meyers was born August 12, 1976. She passed away on August 22, 2019.

Sarah was born and raised in Bakersfield and attended school at Roosevelt Elementary, Chipman Jr. High and Highland High, graduating in 1994.

Sarah played flute in the Golden Empire Suns youth band as well as Highland High marching band.

She swam competitively at Highland High for four years and was a summer lifeguard for the City of Bakersfield.

After attending Bakersfield College, she then obtained a Respiratory Therapist certificate and worked at hospitals here in Bakersfield as well as North Carolina and Syracuse NY. She later obtained a Masters certificate in Healthcare Administration.

Sarah loved the healthcare profession and was quite knowledgeable in many aspects of the medical field. Off the clock, she assisted friends and family members navigate the world of hospital and medical procedures. She was a valuable asset and family advocate during her mother's lengthy hospital stay.

Sarah and her kids enjoyed traveling with her tent trailer and chasing the Nascar circuit on the East coast. She loved the San Francisco 49ers and Joe Montana.

Sadly, Sarah's career unraveled quickly as she battled alcoholism, drugs, and mental illness.

She is survived by her sons Matthew (24), Emerson (10) and Everett (9), her parents Ken Meyers and Maureen Walsh-Meyers, her sisters Molly and Katie, her nieces and nephews Julia, Betsy, Mason, Ryder, and Decker.

Sarah was preceded in death by her mother Diane, grandparents Vic and Anne Meyers along with Nate and Betty Wiggs, and her favorite uncle, Butch.

A private family interment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park with a celebration of life occurring at a future time.
