Shirley Lorraine Carls

Shirley Lorraine (Hill) Carls was born on April 14, 1928 in Norco, California. She was the fifth of seven children. She graduated from Corona High School in 1947 and married Arthur Carls that same year on July 20th.

In 1952, Arthur and Shirley moved to Bakersfield.

When Arthur became ill with Guillian-Barre, Shirley went to work at Frank's Donut Shop. Over the years she managed several stores, and retired from Parklane Hosiery. Shirley then worked at Richardson Center as an Aide. In 1990 Shirley became a breast cancer survivor.

Shirley's main focus in life was her family, and her faith. She is survived by her sister Patricia Roney, and her five children: Art and Cathy Carls, John and Debbie Carls, Bob and Lisa Carls, Sharon and Martin Millett, and Denise and Al Welte. Shirley was grandmother to fifteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to all of Shirley's caregivers, especially Dr. Caroline Wong for her care and attention throughout the years.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 28th from 5:00-8:00pm. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 29th, 10:00 am, at Basham Funeral Care.
