Siria Alaniz

July 13, 1947 - November 10, 2018

Siria Alaniz was born July 13, 1947 in Brownsville, TX to Ignacio and Englantina Alaniz. She was the eldest of eleven children. The family relocated to Lamont, California when she was about 18 years old. She spent her early years helping her parents financially and helping with her younger brothers and sisters. She worked as a seamstress and in a flower shop in Lamont to provide for her growing family. She loved spending time with her parents. Many nights were spent traveling to the casinos or to Las Vegas. She enjoyed spending time in her garden, going shopping with her mother and sewing clothing for her grandchildren. Some favorite memories are of the summer outfits the grandkids received.

Siria is preceded in death by her father, Ignacio Alaniz. She is survived by her beloved mother, Englantina Alaniz; her spouse of 48 years, Jesus Herrera; her siblings, Henry Alaniz, Rudy Alaniz, Olivia Medina, Gilbert Alaniz, Joe Alaniz, Johnny Alaniz, Francis Miranda, Lupe Alaniz, Adolfo Alaniz, Ignacio Alaniz, Jr.; her four children, Sofia Razo, Berta Gonzalez, Jesus Herrera, Jr. (Carol) and Edwardo Herrera. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Dr. Oladimeji, Dr. Varanasi, Dr. Narang and the nurses and staff at Adventist Health Bakersfield for the outstanding care they gave our mother. We would also like to give a special thanks to Christina Delao for all her help and support. She has been a blessing during this difficult time.

A visitation will be held Monday November 19, 2018 from 5-9 p.m. at Basham Funeral Care (8601 Hall Rd.) A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday November 20, 2018 at St. Augustine Church (10601 Myrtle Ave).
