It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Richard Phillips on May 12, 2022, age 68. He was loved very much and will be deeply missed by many. Steven was born on July 15, 1953, in Los Angeles, CA. His family moved to Mojave, CA where he spent his school years. Steve had fond memories of playing football at Mojave High. Upon high school graduation he moved to Bakersfield, CA where he attended Bakersfield College and graduated from CSUB in 1975. Steven thoroughly enjoyed working and being a part of the insurance agency in Exeter, CA, and treasured friendships he made there. He enjoyed his career and never fully retired. In 1975 Steve met his wife, Jackie at CSUB and married 18 months later in June 1976. They were baptized together in 1977 and their son Nikolas was born in 1980. Steven was active throughout most of his life. He especially enjoyed weightlifting and had a black belt in karate. For many years a favorite pass time was practicing karate katas at home. Steven enjoyed watching mixed martial arts and football. He loved going on outings and vacations with his family. He loved his family, friends, and church family, and he loved going out to eat! He had such a good heart. Steven became strong in his faith the last few years. He loved attending church, loved his pastor and the congregation. He read the Bible continually, memorized verses and enjoyed streaming and learning from his favorite pastors. Though Steve dealt with his health issues his faith in God was steadfast. We will miss him greatly, but we take comfort in knowing he is with the Lord. Steven is survived by his wife, Jackie; their son, Nikolas; sisters, Christine Phillips, Nancy Phillips, and Patti Johnson; as well as many extended family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.
