Terry Don Turpin

Terry Don Turpin, 73, passed away on Labor Day, September 2, 2024 at Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital in Downey, California. He was born on October 3, 1950 in Bakersfield, California, to William Henry Turpin and Bernice Corene Turpin. Terry grew up in Shafter, California and the Los Angeles area. Attending Lynwood high school in Lynwood, California. He worked for Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Downey, California for 35 years as a custodian and ultimately was promoted to the Carpenter’s shop. Terry married Martha Ann Curtis in 1969 in Lynwood, California. They were happily married for 55 years!! Terry enjoyed golfing the courses of Southern California and riding his Yamaha V-Star 1700 motorcycle. Terry is survived by his spouse Martha of Bellflower, California; his son Gregory Turpin (wife Carla Turpin) of New Iberia, La.; his (3) grandchildren Nakita Sloan (husband Matthew Sloan), Dallas Turpin (wife Breanna Turpin), Avalea Turpin; and (5) great-grandchildren Franklin Sloan, Raiden Hammond, Scarlett Hammond, Harvey Turpin and Irelyn Turpin; and niece Stacey Cohen, nephew Jeffery Turpin and their spouses. Terry is proceeded in death by his father, William Henry Turpin, his mother Bernice Corene Turpin and his brother Gary Lynn Turpin. Funeral services will be held at Basham & Lara Funeral Care at 343 State Ave, Shafter, CA 93263 on Wednesday, 9/11/24. The family will be greeting friends and relatives at 8am. Burial will follow the funeral at Shafter Memorial Park at 10am. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations to be made at Rancho Los Amigos Hospital Rehabilitation Center in Downey, California.
