Tony Tae Su Yi, 79 years old, passed away on September 27, 2020 in Bakersfield, California. He was born on December 17, 1940 in Kimchun, South Korea to Gi Won Yi and Sok Chun Kim. Tony grew up in Kimchun, South Korea. He enlisted in the South Korean armed forces at a young age. Though quite young, he quickly adjusted and successfully rose up in the ranks. When his service was completed, he married Soon Ok Lee with whom he had 2 beautiful children, Joey and Jin. Tony, with his wife and two young kids, immigrated to the United States in 1977 for a brighter future. Tony became a successful, hard-working tailor and worked at various suit retail stores throughout Southern California. He worked hard to provide and care for his family and his extended family. At a later age, Tony and his family relocated from his beloved City of Torrance to the City of Bakersfield. Tony enjoyed the dry heat but not so much the cold in the winter times. Tony and his wife enjoyed morning walks throughout his neighborhoods, gardening, and playing and caring for their beloved grandchildren. Tony is survived by his family in Bakersfield, CA - his dedicated spouse, Soon Ok; his son, Joey; his daughter, Jin; daughter-in-law, Janie; grandchildren, Noah, Ella, and Ava. A viewing only will take place at Basham Funeral Care at 343 State Avenue, Shafter, California 93263 from 2:30 - 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2020 where his family will be greeting friends and relatives.
