Wanda Jewell Hayes was born March 1, 1930 in Carnegie, OK to Elzie and Audie Hill. When Wanda was a little girl her dad passed away and her mother married a preacher named Charles North who had 5 small children. After a year she had another baby brother so there were 2 Hill girls, 4 North girls, and 2 North boys. They turned into a loving blended family that grew up together. In 1949, Wanda married the love of her life, Harold Hayes, and they raised 3 daughters, Marilyn, Damaris, and Sheila. Wanda and Harold were married for 52 years before he passed away in 2002. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister, Harold Hayes (husband), Matthew Odom (grandson) and 3 sons-in-law. She is survived by Marilyn (Harvey) Soren, Damaris (R ick) Bernard, Sheila (Brian) Allen, Grandsons Ryan Shapiro, Chad (Juniper) Odom, Chris (Agatha) Odom, 8 great-grandchildren with one more on the way, 4 sisters, 1 brother, and many other extended family members. Wanda worked for many years at various jobs with the majority of them at Montgomery Ward and Larson's Dairy. Wanda loved music and played the piano for church for many years and for the East Niles Senior Center on Gospel Music Day every Thursday for several years. She is loved and will be missed by so many people all over the world She was a "JEWEL" in our lives. Wanda was reunited with her loved one already in Heaven on March 30, 2018. Visitation on Tuesday April 3 from 5-8 p.m. and the funeral on Wednesday April 4 at 10:00 a.m. both at Faith Temple Church, 1227 Park Drive, Bakersfield, Ca.
