William H. Replogle, Jr. aka Papa, was born in Bakersfield, California in 1935 to William H. Replogle, Sr. and Ellen Freeman Replogle. He passed away on April 26, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia Replogle; step-son, Wayne Boyd; and niece, Joyce Elkins. He is survived by sister, Mary Ann Prince; niece, Beth Hustead (husband John); nephew, Michael Elkins; step-daughter, Michele Boyd (friend Steve James); grandson, Michael Leggett (wife Colette); Steven Boyd; granddaughter, Diane Elliott (husband Mitch) and their kids, Carly and Cory Elliott; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Throughout William's life he was involved with drag racing with best friend, Dewayne Morden who was a part of his pit crew and friend in high school, he also raced midgets. When he was eighteen years old he wrote history in the record books for the world's fastest dragster, when he drove for Ernie Hashim.
William owned Bills Wheel-N-Brake for twenty years. He also loved golfing with his great friend Vern Jung, he became a Marshall at Kern River Golf Course.
The family would like to thank the first person to take care of Papa and all the nurses from Brookdale and Hoffmann Hospice who were kind and loving.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles St.) Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery (3700 River Blvd).
