Willie Eugene Abernathy

Willie Eugene Abernathy went to be with the Lord on August 29, 2020. Willie was born March 29, 1936 in White, Georgia to "Son" Marvin Edward Abernathy and "Lee" Sally Leah Abernathy. He lived a very rewarding 84 years, and he did it his way.



He is survived by his four children Mitchell, Michael, Tracy, and Amanda, sixteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his parents, his loving wife Mary Lou, his daughter Sherry and son Mark.



Willie moved to Shafter in 1954 and met Mary Lou and married her shortly after. He then began working on a farm and found out real fast that he did not like that type of work. He then found his passion in recycling metal which he really loved doing. He continued scraping for the next sixty years.



The family will be having a viewing at Basham& Lara Funeral Care in Shafter on Sunday the 6th from 5-7 and the funeral service at the Shafter Cemetery on Wednesday, September 9th at 10:00 am.
